Chard is a green leafy vegetable that can be grown in the Canary Islands all year round, but has its peak season from October to April.

Here you have a seasonal calendar for chard in the Canary Islands:

October – April: the best time to buy fresh chard.
May – June: Chard is still available, but may not be as fresh as in the peak season months.
July – September: Swiss chard can be found in some markets, but is more likely to be imported and more expensive.

Conservation
